(Web Desk): LPG prices in Lahore have increased again, and the hike in official rates has pushed the household cylinder price above Rs2,400.

According to LPG Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar, the official LPG price has risen by Rs7, bringing the new rate to Rs209 per kilogram. The price of a household cylinder has also increased by Rs87, taking it to Rs2,466.

He said that after the price jump, LPG is being sold in the market at Rs209 per kilogram instead of the earlier Rs202. The household cylinder is now available at Rs2,466 rather than Rs2,379.

Irfan Khokhar added that the commercial cylinder price has climbed from Rs9,153 to Rs9,488. He urged that to ensure LPG is sold at official rates, supply from LPG terminals to plants must be maintained strictly at government-approved prices.

He claimed that last month, LPG black marketing caused massive financial losses worth billions of rupees, and official prices were almost impossible to find anywhere in the country.

Irfan Khokhar demanded that action against small LPG shopkeepers be stopped, saying that shopkeepers do not manufacture LPG at home. He insisted that the government should ensure plant-level prices so that consumers receive LPG at official rates.

He further said that instead of targeting small retailers, the government should take action against powerful groups. He added that authorities have failed to control the mafia behind illegal pricing.

Experts say the latest rise in LPG prices shows how Pakistan’s energy system is struggling. The gap between official and market rates continues to widen, which creates more space for black marketing. Analysts believe stronger checks at the plant and terminal levels could control illegal pricing. They also point out that without action against powerful groups, small retailers will keep facing pressure while consumers continue to suffer.
