Chicken prices rises in city markets
(Web Desk): Inflation persists in the city’s open markets and Ramadan bazaars, with broiler chicken prices rising by Rs7 per kilogram to reach Rs504 per kilogram.

Inflation continues to hit the city’s open markets and Ramadan bazaars, as broiler chicken prices climb. The cost of broiler chicken meat has increased by Rs7 per kilogram, bringing the current rate to Rs504 per kilogram.

At the farm level, live broilers are being sold at Rs320 per kilogram, while the wholesale price stands at Rs334 per kilogram, and retail shops are selling them at Rs348 per kilogram.

Experts say that during the holy month of Ramadan, rising demand coupled with limited supply is causing prices to soar. This upward trend is putting additional financial pressure on ordinary citizens who rely on chicken as a key part of their meals.

The rise in inflation is hitting salaried individuals the hardest, while middle-class families are reducing essential spending to manage household budgets. Experts warn that if this trend continues, people’s purchasing power could further decline in the coming months.

The Market Committee has warned consumers to avoid paying inflated prices and urged them to buy broiler chicken only from authorized shops to ensure fair rates. Traders have attributed the price hike to higher feed costs, transportation expenses, and increased demand during Ramadan.

Many families are adjusting their household budgets and looking for alternatives to cope with the rising costs. Shoppers visiting bazaars have expressed concern over the continuous increase, saying it makes daily expenses harder to manage.
