In a timely operation, Chung Police in Lahore arrested a household maid involved in a theft at the home of famous qawwal Sher Mian Dad Khan. The incident took place while the family was away attending a wedding function, leaving the house temporarily unoccupied.
According to police officials, the maid, identified as Zarina Bibi, allegedly stole gold jewellery from the residence and attempted to flee. When the family returned and discovered the missing items, they immediately reported the theft to the police.
Chung Police swiftly launched an investigation and used modern technology to trace the suspect. During the search, the police recovered the stolen jewellery, which had been buried in the courtyard of the maid’s house in an attempt to hide the evidence.
Officials confirmed that approximately six tolas of gold were recovered from the suspect. A formal case has been registered against the maid, and further legal action is underway.

SP Sadar Rana Hussain Tahir praised the SHO and the investigation team for their prompt and effective response. He announced that commendation certificates would be awarded to the officers who played a key role in solving the case.
The recovery has brought relief to the victim’s family, while police officials urged citizens to ensure proper verification of domestic workers before employment. The successful operation highlights the increasing use of technology in local policing and the commitment to swift justice in property-related crimes
