ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) In a groundbreaking achievement for Pakistan's medical community, a record 1,061 Pakistani doctors have secured residency positions in the United States, marking the highest number of placements in a single year.

Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, President of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), congratulated the successful candidates, describing it as a testament to the strength and quality of Pakistan’s medical education system.

He attributed this milestone to the high standards upheld by the PM&DC, alongside the rigorous curricula and comprehensive training programs at medical institutions nationwide.

“This marks a transformative moment for Pakistan’s medical education,” said Dr. Taj.

“It showcases not only the academic excellence of our students but also the significant role played by PM&DC in aligning our medical and dental colleges with international benchmarks,” he added.

Several top institutions, including King Edward Medical University, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Dow Medical College, Shifa College of Medicine, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), and Khyber Medical University, were recognized for producing the highest number of successful residency candidates.

Dr. Taj expressed confidence that this achievement would propel the PM&DC’s vision of raising Pakistan’s medical education to global standards. "These graduates carry the legacy of their institutions and are ready to serve patients worldwide with compassion and competence," he said.

The recent recognition of PM&DC by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) was also highlighted, marking a significant step toward internationalizing Pakistan’s medical qualifications.

This recognition boosts the global credibility of Pakistani medical graduates and opens up training and employment opportunities in top healthcare systems worldwide.

“Our mission is to empower Pakistani doctors to not only serve locally but also excel globally. This achievement proves we are on the right track,” concluded Dr. Taj.
