The Pakistan India UN Security Council Afghanistan debate became heated when Pakistan strongly rejected India’s criticism regarding alleged cross border strikes during the ongoing Pakistan Afghanistan conflict.
During the meeting, India’s envoy Parvathaneni Harish raised concerns about civilian casualties linked to cross border violence.
He described such cross-border strikes as “flagrant violations of international law, UN Charter and state sovereignty” and urged greater accountability in the region.
Pakistan’s Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad strongly responded to the remarks, saying India’s accusations were politically motivated. He argued that the Pakistan Afghanistan conflict was largely driven by terrorism emerging from across the border and said Pakistan’s actions were aimed at protecting its citizens.
According to Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan had already shared evidence about militant groups operating in the region. He also accused India of trying to influence the situation in Afghanistan in ways that could destabilize Pakistan.
The Pakistan India UN Security Council Afghanistan debate further intensified when Parvathaneni Harish reiterated India’s concerns about regional security and humanitarian impacts.
Pakistan again responded that its actions were focused only on eliminating threats linked to the Pakistan Afghanistan conflict and ongoing militant activity.
