(Web Desk): Lahore’s Counter Crime Department (CCD) reported that Khawaja Tareef Gulshan alias Taifi Butt, killed in an alleged police encounter near Rahim Yar Khan late Thursday night.

Officials confirmed that Taifi Butt, accused of masterminding the high-profile killing of Ameer Balaj, was being transferred from Lahore when the police convoy came under attack in the Kot Sabzal area of Sadiqabad.

Reportedly, a group of armed men ambushed the team and managed to snatch Butt from police custody, escaping under heavy gunfire.

Police stated that during the chase, an exchange of fire took place between law enforcement personnel and the attackers, resulting in the killing of Teefi Butt.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the site and secured the area. Authorities have shifted Butt’s body to the local mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Law enforcement agencies have launched a large-scale search operation to apprehend the escaped attackers involved in the ambush. Officials are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the confrontation to determine whether Butt’s death occurred as part of crossfire or deliberate targeting.

Notably, the deceased, Taifi Butt, was reportedly wanted in multiple criminal cases, including armed robbery, extortion, and murder.
