(Web Desk): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially disqualified senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Murad Saeed from his Senate seat, and issued a notification on Thursday.

According to the notification, Murad Saeed was sentenced to 10 years in prison by an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi. Following this conviction, the ECP declared him ineligible under Article 63(1)(h) of the Constitution of Pakistan. Consequently, he has been de-notified as a senator, and his seat has been declared vacant.

Murad Saeed had been elected to the Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on a general seat but had not taken oath prior to his disqualification.

The conviction stems from a case titled “State vs. Asim Rehman,” registered under FIR No. 708/23 at RA Bazaar Police Station in Rawalpindi. The verdict was delivered by Anti-Terrorism Court No. 1, which found him guilty in connection with the charges.

It is important to note that Murad Saeed has been wanted in multiple cases related to the violent incidents of May 9, including allegations of inciting party workers and involvement in vandalism and damage to public property. He has reportedly been in hiding for an extended period.
