(Web Desk): Pakistan to observe Earth Hour 2026 on March 28 by switching off non-essential lights.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the authorities to observe Earth Hour tomorrow according to the notification issued by the Cabinet Division. Timings that are announced to switch off lights are from 8:30pm to 9:30pm on March 28.

The prime minister has directed all ministries, divisions, provincial governments, and public institutions to actively participate in the global Earth Hour campaign under this year’s theme, “Give an Hour for Earth.”

The initiative calls on individuals and organizations to dedicate one hour to activities that promote environmental protection, energy conservation, and climate awareness. Authorities have been urged to mobilize efforts nationwide to highlight the importance of collective action in addressing climate challenges.

Earth Hour, launched in 2007 by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), has grown into a worldwide movement observed in over 190 countries and territories. Each year, the campaign is marked by a symbolic switch-off of non-essential lights, with governments, institutions, and households taking part simultaneously to demonstrate their commitment to the planet.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Earth Hour, with a renewed focus on practical steps for sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and climate action. Officials say the milestone serves as a reminder of the urgent need for continued environmental responsibility and stronger global cooperation.
