LAHORE (Web Desk): Apni Chat, Apna Ghar scheme crosses 1.9 million registrations as Punjab expands housing support for low-income families.

According to the latest figures, more than 1.135 million applications have already been submitted under the programme. During a detailed briefing to Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin, PHATA Director General Skandar Zeeshan shared updates on the progress of the project.

He said interest-free loans have so far been provided to 131,680 beneficiaries to help them build their homes. Another 18,375 applicants are expected to receive loans during the current month.

Officials said 83,330 houses have been completed, while construction work on 45,425 homes is currently underway. The government has allocated more than Rs183 billion for the programme so far. Authorities have also recovered about Rs8.4 billion through the repayment process.

Minister Bilal Yasin said the scheme has set new standards in public service delivery. He added that under the “Apni Chat, Apna Ghar” programme, 2,000 deserving families have already been given free residential plots.

The housing initiative was first announced in 2024 when the chief minister introduced a major plan to build 100,000 houses for low-income citizens across the province.

During a meeting in Lahore regarding the “Apni Chat, Apna Ghar” project, the chief minister directed officials to prepare a detailed implementation strategy to achieve the target.

Authorities also decided that more than 3,000 houses will be constructed in every district of Punjab to support families who cannot afford their own homes.
