Islamabad (Web Desk): The Petroleum Division is set to announce new average petroleum prices today based on last week’s rates, with sources warning of a significant increase in fuel costs for consumers across Pakistan.

According to sources, petrol prices could rise by up to Rs 51 per liter for the coming week, while high-speed diesel may see an increase of up to Rs 81 per liter. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is expected to submit a detailed summary of the new petroleum product prices to the government today, which will serve as the basis for official price notifications.

Officials said that while adjustments in the petroleum levy and other taxes could slightly reduce overall prices, the increases are likely to outweigh these reductions. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reportedly demanded that no subsidy be provided on petrol and has also called for the full collection of the petroleum levy, adding further pressure on the government to raise fuel prices.

To prevent adulteration and ensure quality standards, sources indicated that the price of furnace oil is also expected to rise significantly. Authorities stressed that these measures are intended to stabilize Pakistan’s energy market amid continuing global fuel price volatility.

Consumers are advised to prepare for higher fuel costs in the coming week and closely follow official announcements regarding the final prices. The government has assured that steps are being taken to minimize disruptions and maintain a steady supply of petroleum products throughout the country.
