First released in 2018 on Steam, the Oculus Rift Store, and PlayStation VR, Titanic VR was created by Engage XR, with the same studio behind Apollo 11 VR, which launched on PC VR in 2015.
Whereas Apollo 11 VR was found to be compatible with the initial Oculus Quest, Engage XR early on was of the opinion that standalone VR chipsets were not powerful enough to completely deliver the Titanic experience, which incorporates hundreds of NPCs and a very detailed replica of the ship s exterior and interior. That all changed with the more capable XR2 Gen 2 processor in the Quest 3 series, which the studio claims it "pushed to the limits" in order to deliver the full experience to stand-alone VR.
When the Quest 3 version came out in Early Access in April, it contained just Exploration Mode, which allowed players to command a submarine to investigate the Titanic s real-world wreckage, retrieve artifacts, and study them in a virtual laboratory.

Now, in the full release, it also includes the Experience mode, wherein you viscerally understand the ship s tragic history by reliving the 1912 sinking as a survivor.
To get a full fledge experience of Titanic sinking, Titanic VR is now available on the Meta Horizon Store for Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
