If your Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) has expired, there’s no need to worry. NADRA has now made the renewal process easier than ever before.
According to the new guidelines from Nadra, you can renew your ID card in just a few simple steps—without any complex paperwork or long queues.
All you need to do is visit your nearest Nadra Centre with your old smart CNIC. When you arrive, you’ll be given a token. Wait for your turn to be called.
Once your turn comes, go to the counter and complete the biometric verification process. This includes your fingerprint scan and photo.
The officer will then collect your personal details. After that, the office in-charge will approve your application. In some cases, you might be asked questions about your family, which you must answer correctly.
Once approved, you will receive a confirmation message on your mobile phone. Then, you’ll be asked to pay the fee based on the delivery option you choose.
The renewal fee is Rs750 for normal delivery in 30 days, Rs1,500 for urgent delivery in 15 days, and Rs2,500 for executive service which delivers the card in just 7 days.

Nadra’s new initiative reflects a strong push toward digitized, user-friendly public services. By offering different delivery speeds and simplifying the process, the government is aiming to reduce queues and improve citizen convenience. This move could lead to quicker turnarounds and encourage more people to renew their ID cards on time, especially with the clear and structured fee system.
