Government introduces ‘Punjab Film Fund’ to support struggling artists

LAHORE (Web Desk): The Punjab Film Fund for struggling artists has been launched to support filmmakers and revive cinema, offering financial help to producers and directors across Pakistan.

The Punjab government film fund aims to strengthen the Pakistani film industry support system by helping filmmakers who have struggled with limited resources in recent years.

Under the new program, the Punjab Film Fund for struggling artists will provide a total of Rs30,000,000 in grants to approved film projects.

Officials confirmed that the first installment of Rs15,000,000 has already been released to selected filmmakers.

Authorities said the Punjab government film fund will distribute money in phases. The first 50 percent of the funding will be given after filmmakers sign agreements with the government.

The remaining amount will be released once important production milestones are completed, including filming and other stages of the project.

Several well-known names in the industry have been approved for support under this Punjab Film Fund for struggling artists. These include Humayun Saeed, Shaan Shahid, Wajahat Rauf, Yasir Nawaz, Nadeem Mandviwalla, Vasay Chaudhry, Sangeeta, Syed Noor, Jamal Shah, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Masood Butt and Shahzad Rafique.

Industry insiders believe the Punjab government film fund could open new doors for filmmakers and strengthen Pakistani film industry support. Many producers say the initiative may help revive movie production in the country.
