
During a recent podcast with Raj Shamani, Chahal opened up about the emotional aftermath of the semi-final match, where India fell short by 18 runs. Chahal, who was the last batsman to walk in, recalled the somber atmosphere in the dressing room. He mentioned, "I saw him cry in the bathroom. I was the last batter, and when I was crossing him, I saw [tears] in his eyes. I saw everyone cry in 2019, in the bathroom."

The defeat was particularly hard-hitting, as it marked the end of MS Dhoni s illustrious World Cup career. "It was my first World Cup, and when Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) got out and I was going in (to bat), I was trying to hold back my tears. It was so depressing," admitted Chahal as he struggled to control his own emotions.
"The energy that he brings every day, it never goes down. It only goes up—every day till the last ball," added Chahal as he reflected on the team’s collective grief at that moment in time.
